The Bukit is a hotel project by Hyatt located in Canggu, Bali. The site is located next to the beachfront and across the 5-star Regent hotel. The site has a local Pura/temples which are mainly used by the neighbourhood surrounding. The architectural gesture of the design of the project is to give respects to the Pura by putting the outdoor space next to it, while the building is inclined to the back with a terracing profile, which results in a mountain-shaped look from the beachfront. The profile of the roof depicts the mountain-filled surrounding in area of Canggu.
There are two pedestrian networks from the beach front and the street allowing guests to walk through the Bukit to the very top floor of the building, which has an open, public, and inviting rooftop communal space. The ground floor is elevated at around 1 meter from the street level, allowing the functions within the building to be easily viewed from the main road, this encouraging the public to come in — creating a visual connection between each space. Some of the rooms have a projected balcony, placed at certain points and strategically angled to ensure an uninterrupted ocean view. The beachfront rooms are covered by the lovers providing shade to the terrace and ensures privacy while still maintaining the view from the inside of the unit to the ocean.
