The Net is an office building located in one of the main busy roads of Jakarta called Jalan Gunung Sahari. The main road is often high-traffic and very busy with the vehicles passing by, since it connects most of the main areas of Jakarta. The project is a renovation of an existing shophouse, which is surrounded by other old shophouses from the 80’s, as well as offices and warehouses nearby. The objective of the project is to house a company in the virtual network business sector. ‘The Net’ is taken from the word ‘intranet,’ which refers connections or the network between points. The facade the space houses the main circulation and gathering/lobby space in the front of the building and is designed in such a way that encases a triple height atrium space and is covered with a skin with a zig-zag design, representative of a ‘net.’ The openness of the facade allows natural light to come in and create a welcoming gathering space for the inhabitants. At the bottom is the ground floor that accommodates a talking space, while the second and third level accommodates a warehouse. Starting from the third level, as well, is the main lobby of the office. Finally, the top floor comprises of a warn, welcoming gathering area.
